Uniart Gallery
The UniArt Gallery of New Bulgarian University was opened in the year 2012, on the international museum and gallery day – May 19th. The majority of the exhibits were donated by the family of Bojidar Danev, executive chairman of the Bulgarian chamber of commerce and member of the board of the NBU.
The permanent exhibition consists of collections: "European painting", "Contemporary Bulgarian sculpture" and paintings of Ivan Kirkov (1932-2010). The unique collection: "European painting" includes works by Dutch and Flemish artists of the period 17-19 century and presents the genre spectrum of art at that time.
The organized temporary exhibitions allow the audience to get acquainted with innovative trends in the contemporary visual art.
In Bulgaria there aren’t many universities that have their own collections and gallery, and from this perspective UniArt is a unique university exhibition space. In the gallery, the students of the NBU can experience the samples of the classic and old masters, to develop their projects, to attend seminars, to conduct internships and practices. Here are held various events with academic and cultural nature: lectures, thesis defenses, readings, book presentations, master classes and concerts, special education programs. Every Saturday a “Children's University” is held, for children of different ages.
