Library "Prof. Bogdan Bogdanov, DSc"

On November 6, New Bulgarian University officially opened the new "Prof. Bogdan Bogdanov" Library in honor of the 84th anniversary of the birth of NBU founder Prof. Bogdan Bogdanov.

During the opening, the 2024 Humanities Award ceremony was held for Prof. Ivaylo Tarnev in Auditorium 1 of the Library. The ceremony was followed by a performance by students from the Theatre Department, presenting "The Melody of Things" by Rainer Maria Rilke.

The production was conceived by Assoc. Prof. Snezina Petrova, and the direction and choreography were done by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anna Pampulova. The celebration continued with a baroque concert, presented by students and alumni of the Department of Music.

The multifunctional building is a symbol of Prof. Bogdanov's ideas for a New Bulgarian University, as a space for building holistic, independent individuals with a broad culture, as innovative and enterprising in the development of university education, scientific research and creativity, as developing the university community and open to the external environment.

Reading Room with Collection and Archive "Prof. Bogdan Bogdanov, Ph.D."

On the first level of the building there is a Reading Room, with several collections, the first of which is the personal library of Prof. Bogdan Bogdanov, Ph.D., donated by his son, Asst. Prof. Ivan Bogdanov. All 2550 copies in it are presented in the order determined by Prof. Bogdanov. Books from Prof.'s office are on display. Bogdan Bogdanov at NBU, publications that he personally ordered and used from the NBU Library, numerous of his works and his personal archive. The latest publications published by the NBU Publishing House, as well as the Tsvetan Stoyanov Library, are also available.

NBU Museum

 

The museum, located on level minus 1, presents in its open space the history of the University and a permanent exhibition with posters and an exhibition of printed publications about the life and work of Tsvetan Stoyanov, a Bulgarian intellectual, literary historian, critic, philosopher, translator and writer.

Auditorium 1

 

Auditorium 1 is a space for university seminars, conferences, educational and scientific events. In it, everyone can choose a preferred university title from the humanities and social sciences or the arts. Located on level one, the auditorium is equipped with 98 seats, a computer configuration, a whiteboard and a sound and multimedia system.

Auditorium 2

 

Auditorium 2, located on level minus 1, is designed for conferences and educational practices, concerts, performances and events. It is integrated into the multifunctional space, equipped with 85 seats, computer configuration, whiteboard, Kawai GL-10 grand piano, sound system and multimedia.

The building of the Library "Prof. Bogdan Bogdanov, DSc" is filled with light and combines classic elements of the university with modern technologies. It is an architectural accent on the campus, created with care for nature and with energy efficiency in mind, a space that reminds us that the mission of a university is not only to transmit knowledge, but also to connect thinking people, ready to share, inspire each other and build a better society.

The "Prof. Bogdan Bogdanov" Library was created on the idea of the Executive Director of NBU Dr. Georgi Tekev, by decision of the NBU Board of Trustees. The ideas in the construction process were contributed by Honorary Prof. Veselin Metodiev, Chairman of the NBU Board of Trustees, and Honorary Prof. Antoni Slavinski, member of the NBU Senatorial Council. The idea of the University is for the "Prof. Bogdan Bogdanov" Library to be a home for Humanities, Arts, and Literature.
